  1. Hi Pitara, this is Mrs Collins from Manaiakalani and I'll be commenting on blogs over term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. Why did you pick the ACM? Have you done something directly towards helping them help others? I helped at a charity event in Glen Innes on the weekend that saw 1200 children get a Christmas present for the the holidays and food for the term break. As a family we are serving lunch on Christmas day to those who have nowhere or anyone to share the day with... Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep your learning up over the school break!

  2. Good Evening Pitara,

I am Samuel, a Year 7 student attending Sacred Heart College. I am part of a trial period in which they are trying out students to be bloggers, which means it is my first experience with this sort of position. However, I did complete the Summer Learning Journey as a student in previous years.

I love the Auckland City Mission (ACM) and the continuous charity work they do for those who are less fortunate than others. I feel like sometimes, the call to help the homeless and needy is something society subconsciously turns a blind eye to sometimes, and ACM has been there to support them and provide shelter and food.

I liked your short summary of the substantial work that ACM does and I can't imagine how grateful some people are that they exist. I agree with you in saying that ACM is one of my favourite charities, and I admit I wish I did more charity work, even if just in the local community.

I love that they also provide Christmas presents for others, especially the excitement of getting a gift and the joy after unwrapping it. This is a very good blog post, well done, Pitara.

    Kind Regards,
    Samuel
